what is pilates
The Pilates method is a unique system of strengthening exercises developed over 100+ years ago by Joseph H. Pilates. It strengthens and tones muscles, improves posture, flexibility, and balance. It unites body and mind and creates a more streamlined shape.
Pilates exercises as a whole develop strong abdominal, back, glut, and deep postural muscles to support the skeletal system and act as the powerhouse of the body.
Pilates is also an excellent rehabilitation system for back, knee, hip, shoulder and repetitive stress injuries. Pilates addresses the body as a whole. Correcting the body’s asymmetries and chronic weaknesses, to prevent re-injury and bring the body back into balance.
our studio
Power thru Pilates is located on the far west side of Madison. Our focus is on private and duet trainings using the Pilates equipment: Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, arc, and ladder barrel. Training is tailored to personal needs and goals using Pilates and other training methods.
Sessions are either 45 or 60 minutes long.
Virtual training is also available specializing in Mat pilates on Facetime or Zoom.
about Caroline
Caroline Spencer is the owner of Power thru Pilates. She has been teaching mat and equipment Pilates for 22 years. She has a PPS II certification through The Peak Pilates training program in Boulder, CO.
Caroline is also an endurance athlete and has raced competitively for almost 35 years. To-date, she has completed over 140 marathons and ultramarathons, and has participated in 12 full Ironman and 15 half Ironman triathlons. Pilates has been one of the primary reasons Caroline has remained injury-free for so long!
